No more ice
Ocean
currents move hot water from the tropics to the colder regions north
and south, and bring it back cold. As the temperature of tropical
seas rises, provoking stronger hurricanes, so does that of ocean
currents, which means the warmth they carry gets closer to the poles.
The
polar ice-caps are melting faster than predicted. This is associated
with an irregular jet stream and hot air reaching polar latitudes.
Rising temperatures around the equator are sending more heat to the
poles. And that extra atmospheric and oceanic heat is being cooled by
melting ice. When the ice is gone, that hot air and water will just
get hotter and hotter.
